We just received this email from a rider who completed one of our Beginner Basic RiderCourses in April of this year.
Dear Mike (or whoever else is reading this),
I greatly appreciate y'alls MSF course. It's come in handy several times. A lot has happened and I thought it'd be interesting from y'alls end to see how far someone who has taken your course has come.
I got a motorcycle to get through college without debt, and with a little bit of sparkle in my eye, and it's doing that very well. I started off on a Honda Shadow Phantom 750. I loved the bike, sounded great, and taught me a great deal about motorcycles. I had my first crash 3 days after buying the motorcycle (and a few weeks after completing the course), I took my eyes off the road and was looking at a few pretty houses. I was lucky I was riding at 10MPH, or the crash could have been worse.
3 months and 8,000+ miles later, I upgraded to a 2009 Kawasaki Concourse with ABS. I decided after a few too many trips from Tyler to Dallas, that I was tired of having small luggage, no windshield, rough suspension and bad brakes. It was an amazing upgrade and experience that I loved so much, that I got another one.
I had my first "official" crash a few weeks ago, had a full size pickup t-bone me while I was at an intersection near TJC. I bought a 2008 Kawasaki Concourse as its replacement. A month ago I also witnessed one of my friends make a critical error that I remember one of the instructors telling us about, not to brake in a turn. That error led to him crashing his CBR500 at ~86MPH on FM 315. Lessons learned, I hope.
Overall, I am very grateful for the teaching of Mike and Ender, and am now hooked onto motorcycles for life. Dangerous, cheap(er), and a wonderful way to get from point A to B. God bless.
