How can I determine whether to enroll in the 1-day Skilled-Rider Class or the 2-day Beginner Class for motorcycles?

  • Do you currently own a motorcycle that you are riding?

  • Have you been riding a motorcycle regularly (several times a week) in the past 3-4 months?

  • Can you start and stop smoothly and consistently without stalling the engine?

  • Can you up-shift and down-shift smoothly?

  • Are you able to turn sharp corners smoothly - staying in your lane? Without putting a foot down?

  • Can you ride very slowly in the friction zone while in first gear? In a straight line? While turning? While making U-turns? Without putting a foot down?

  • Can you stop quickly without causing either wheel to lock up?

  • Are you able to do these things on a bike you've never ridden before?

These are things that we consider to be "basic skills". If you can answer "yes" to all of these, you're probably a good fit for the 1-day Skilled-Rider Class. If you can't answer yes to these, you should probably consider the 2-day beginner class.

Do the 3 classes provided by ETEX cover all the requirements for obtaining my M Endorsement?

  • If you are 18 years or older and hold a valid Class C Texas Driver License or Permit, you will have fulfilled all the requirements to obtain your M Endorsement in Texas. The next steps include scheduling an online appointment with the DMV, presenting the paperwork we provide, paying a $16 fee, taking an eye test, and having your picture taken.

  • If you are a minor (under the age of 18), you will need to schedule an appointment at the DMV for a riding test.

  • Anyone who finishes one of our courses will be awarded an MSF Completion Card that is recognized in all 50 states. Therefore, if you do not live in Texas and want to obtain your endorsement in your own state, you should review the laws in that state.
